Sen James McClure was not just a statesman, but brought people together in Idaho and our nation to get things done. Our condolences to his family, he served Idaho for many, many years... thank you for sharing him with us.

Very long, but memorable week. We passed some bills leveling the playing field for labor, welcomed a Metal of Honor winner, started allocating funds for '12 budgets and found out we are now confirmed to have a visit to Boise by the Chairman JCS the first part of April. Exciting news for veterans, their families and those who care for them! Once we are allowed to release the schedule, I will post it here.

Appropriated funds this morning for various dedicated budgets as well as from the interest from the Millennium fund for tobacco cessation programs. Our friend, Congressman Raul Labrador has come to the floor to give us a briefing on how he views the issues in D.C.... he's doing well representing us!

Worked late into the afternoon trying to find good alternatives over doing away with the Dyed Fuel program in Idaho as recommended by the Gov's Transportation Task-force. It's good to have so many experts coming to the table with suggestions.

Feeling much better, going to judge the Meridian FD Pipes & Drums Chile Cook-off... did you know each uniform costs ~$4K for each person? All paid for by the volunteers and fundraisers like this! www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=130590003664155

Got a text during this afternoons committee that my Distracted Driving bill was up in Jud & Rules (I had not been informed). Ran down and was able to present and get it printed. Then had an interview by Fox 12 TV with regards to the Meridian Interchange replacement issues... now, back to the Education hearings

Idaho parents need to consider this question before getting wound up about the proposed Education changes: If the Legislature today provides funding for 18.2 students per class but actual class size is MUCH higher, where is that money going and why? Would you be willing to increase the funding formula to something higher while changing the process of how those funds are used to be able to bring the ACTUAL class size down?
